The Montrose Indians boys golf team traveled to the Green Valley Ranch regionals tournament Tuesday Sept. 22nd. The team consisted of the top four of the twenty players: Rocco Manuel, Noah Richmond, Jake Legg, and Jordan Jennings. Jennings placed 2nd individually and Richmond placed 3rd individually. The team won the tournament for the 5th straight time.

The team qualified for state and will travel to the Country Club of Colorado in Colorado Springs on Oct. 5-6, in hopes of winning for the 4th year in a row.

“I feel like I have a really good chance of winning state individually this year, seeing how well I did in regionals, and I feel our team overall has a great chance of winning,” senior Jordan Jennings said.

Jennings has been to state but has not yet won, he has been a close second behind Micah Stangebye, a Montrose graduate who won the last two state tournaments. Jennings, his teammates and coaches are all hoping that this is the year that Jennings can finally win a state tournament individually.

The Indians have 4 seniors this year, Jordan Jennings, Quinne Hughes, Kreed and Klay Martinez. Jennings is the only one out of the 4 that qualified for regionals and state.

“I feel like I’ve had a pretty good year, I didn’t qualify for regionals this year, but I am glad that i got to play with such a great program and team,” Kreed Martinez said.
