“The Fault In Our Stars” written by John Green and directed by Josh Boone is an American romantic tragedy rated PG-13 and is two hours and seven minutes long. It tells a story about two teen adolescents who fall in love, sounds cheesy right? But there is a twist, they both have cancer.
Main characters, Hazel Grace Lancaster played by Shailene Woodley, and Augustus Waters played by Ansel Elgort, go on an unforgivable adventure. While watching this movie I noticed they did a good job setting a tone of however Hazel is feeling throughout the movie as well as bluntness. They accomplished this by having Hazel periodically narrate her own point of view as the movie plays. I like how they keep it real and they don’t necessarily have a happy ending. Life can be unfair in many aspects and this movie shows that without sugar coating it.
My favorite part of the movie would have to be a scene where Hazel, Augustus and his friend Issac egg Issac’s ex girlfriend’s house as an act of revenge. It was a humorous scene in a movie full of sad moments which makes me think of the saying,” There’s always a rainbow after the storm.” Even though the ending was sad they did a good job with this movie overall and I would definitely recommend this tearjerker.
