MHS Football Takes Commanding 43-12 Victory Over Chatfield

MHS Football steamrolled their way to a 43-12 victory in their season opener against the Chatfield Chargers last Friday night. “Chatfield is a good team, and we kept mental errors to a minimum. I think in the end that allowed us to come out on top,” senior Eli Evans said.

“I was excited to get back out there. Our season was supposed to be canceled, but CHSAA changed their minds so we’ve gotta make the best of what we’ve been given,” senior Colten Brueggeman said.

The Indians rushed for a total of 567 yards, much to the credit of their offensive line.“It’s a number we’re very proud of. We usually lead the state in rushing most years, and I think (Friday) reflects that,” Brueggeman said.

The Indians were ranked No. 7 in 4A coming into the contest, with that ranking likely to increase after their victory.“Even though our season is cut short, we’re still liking to be a top 3 team when it’s all said and done,” senior Trent Blundell said.

The team’s next game will be Friday, October 16 against the Fruita Wildcats.
